Anyone here a bioethicist? How do you define sentience? It seems like learning to play a game and seeing if the mini-brain plays worse when drunk would fall under some type of sentience, no?

The caption might as well have just said " Not saying this is what's gonna happen, buuuuuuuut... "

To be fair, I would assume that once you realize you exist you could probably break out of the "pong" cycle.

If all you were was playing pong, you wouldn't have the thoughts and information available to know what existence or anything was. The second you did, you probably are capable of beyond that.

They kinda redefine sentience as "responds to stimuli", which is much less impressive than what you are thinking.

I would define sentience as being able to make a conscious choice without any outside influence. That includes making the choice of realizing your existence.
