what the fuck
Is it alive? Is it conscious? Does it feel trapped? This is horrifying to keep thinking about >_>
I sure hope they aren't sentient..... that would be fucked up to realize you only exist to play ponghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ht-ZyJOV2k
The researchers say their mini brains are more adaptable than current AI systems and so might provide the basis for more adaptable robots
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ziKnyvBZksI was just thinking about this lol!

Anyone here a bioethicist? How do you define sentience? It seems like learning to play a game and seeing if the mini-brain plays worse when drunk would fall under some type of sentience, no?

They kinda redefine sentience as "responds to stimuli", which is much less impressive than what you are thinking.
I would define sentience as being able to make a conscious choice without any outside influence. That includes making the choice of realizing your existence.According to both your answers, the bioethicist failed at their job ( -_-)
Are they bioethicists tho?The article said that bioethicists were involved to make sure they weren't creating something that was sentient.
