Yeah, I think he's just kind of ignorant and probably raised in a less informed environment which I believe he's acknowledged. He's good-natured about it.
I wouldn't call him ignorant per se, but I think there is some truth that people who grow up in a more rural area do tend to be more ignorant of certain social issues in general. And I think that is simply because they encounter a lot less than people who have spent time in a metro area do. That is not meant as an insult, as I think people take the word ignorant in the wrong way. I am ignorant about lots of things but not social issues.
