With so many movies and tv shows, do people even read the comics anymore?

I'm not complaining, it's exhausting.

Whenever you stop paying attention.
Fad never started for me.

Superheroes have been around for almost 80 years. They only got more popular over time.

Blankman needs a sequel.
Westerns were extremely popular during the 50s. But come the mid 70s, they were dead.
What killed them?
Sigs are rather pointless, except if it's to showcase animation and images.

There's a lot more you can do with superheroes so they'll last longer. I mean really they've been around for decades but the good mainstream ones have still been around a long time now.

Giving a character special powers is one thing. Dressing them up in crazy costume is another thing. Placing them in a scenario that involves the drama of their complex identities combined with an endless set of unique circumstances that let them use their powers, choosing to be good or evil, and constantly teaming up with or battling against other superpowered people, not to mention the Big 3. You can't really replace that. It's the same reason Greek plays are still actually hugley popular. They kinda perfected their thing. Like Shakespeare. It's just timeless. That's what all the people BEFORE him, even the Greeks to a certain extent here outside religion, were going for. Really epic dialogue and storylines.

There's a chance it'll keep going the route of X-Men, and just get more and more realistic until fighting is confined to an arena if not cut from the DNA entirely. People might end up identifying more with gods or robots. Extraterrestrial and supernatural fiction might see a resurgence next. But nothing has come SO FAR as to be compared to modern mythology, which superheroes are at this point. These kids from generations ago wanted to be what they saw in those old comics and slowly evolved the characters into gods. Whatever comes next for fiction will undoubtedly be influenced by superheroes in the same way.

It's not just an American thing. People all over the world flock to see them, the same way they bought the comic books decades ago

Westerns really saturated the market back in the day. People think there's a lot of comic book movies now but back in the day westerns made up 30ish% of the movies released. That's fucking insane.

How is this even a fad? Marvel and DC have been all about supers from the beginning. Are there other kompanies joining in that I'm not aware of?

It feels like Superhero *movies* are slowing down. I mean the TV stuff is still generating a lot of hype, but I don't see a lot of that same energy for the theater. (Except like, Spider-Man. But Spider-Man is almost always a hype machine)

Idk if it was just COVID or if Endgame blew the load and now we're in a refractal period.

I know you wont answer, TC, because this is probably a bait or trolling topic in the first place, but what fucking difference does it make?

If you dont like them, you literally just have to not watch them. Or pay them any attention. Youre not being forced to watch them ( I hope ) so just dont even put any thought towards them.

Youll be surprised at how much better your life will be when you stop being concerned over something youre not interested in, rather than sitting there like a spoiled child getting angry about something that doesnt even matter.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds, along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence.
Not for a good while so you best sit tight and enjoy the ride, baby

Space adventures and super heroes. Also, most westerns were painfully formulaic.

it's too late to call it a fad anymore.

mcu has tangible plans for the next decade at least.

the only thing that could kill it is a few year long streak of eternals quality shit.

Even that wouldn't be enough. The Eternals might be the worst movie in the MCU, but it was the sixth highest grossing film last year. (The other MCU movies were #1, 2, and 4.)

As long as they still succeed, they'll keep making them.

I just want them to do something unique for once with a MCU film. They're all the fucking same at their cores, with the exception of Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and No Way Home.

The Batman looks promising, but given DC's track record, we'll see.
Official Fujin of the Mortal Kombat 11 board. Trails of Cold Steel is the most underappreciated JRPG series ever.
It's not much of a fad when these types of stories have been around since forever. The story of super powered Gilgamesh is about 4000 years old. Classical literature is full of demigod heroes fighting mythical creatures. In medieval times it was heroic knights facing off against dragons, demons and magic.

Modern superheroes are just a continuation of this. The concept of heroes fighting fantastical opponents is just appealing apparently.

yeah you're right, but it was the 6th highest due to the high brand trust in the MCU, so a bad streak could definitely slow it down.

That said I personally thought it was better than Black Widow last year, if only because Florence Pugh was the only good thing about that movie.

I'm hoping the big budget, mass appeal necessity dies down so we can get some actually interesting superhero stuff going. I'd like to see Captain America's whole "what the fuck, America" arc.
