I would understand this line of thinking if the boyfriend actually tried to do something, like inform the authorities that she was missing, or at least tell her folks that she'd disappeared. Since he didn't, him coming back and lawyering up immediately reeks of foul play on his behalf.

It's simply not something you would do if a psycho serial killer murdered your girlfriend and you escaped though. No one in that situation is thinking oh god, that crazy psycho murdered my gf! Waitthey're gonna think I did it, better not tell anyone anything!

I remember a local (then) story about a couple who disappeared on a hike. Everyone assumed the boyfriend killed the girlfriend. Turned out they both got strung out on drugs and got lost and then turned up at different times.

Couple with mental health issues traveling/living in a small van for weeks/months at a time. Sounds nice in theory, but is a terrible idea. Neither of them had jobs. Im sure they both had friends but obviously never spent time with them. Being together for that long without any space pretty obvious one of them would snap. Though well probably never know who started it, just how it ended.

She's been missing for almost a month. Wouldn't the body decompose badly out in the open? Thank goodness they found her.

It's more like the corpse was left out to exposure to putrefy for three weeks. This is most likely her by the way, they're just not 100% sure yet.

I think she threw a very violent temper tantrum, he fought back, she fell off a cliff, he panicked, made himself look stupid in mainstream media, smoked weed, had a panic attack then did the correct thing in getting legal advice then had another panic attack and fled.
