Hey so I bought RE4 on the Switch a couple days ago and love it so far. Got a couple questions that I have and probably will ask more the further I go into the game.

In regards to the Merchant, what should I sell to him? I have 7 spinel and I'm not sure if they're worth saving or if I should just sell to him for the extra cash.

Sell all treasures that don't combine with others, so yeah feel free to sell your spinels.

Treasures that can combine will end up more valuable than the individual components. I believe anything that can be combined with other pieces has an indication in the item description that makes it obvious.

Just sell everything. I don't really remember much being useful to keep that you could sell

For the merchant as well don't upgrade any pistol until you get to the castle unless you choose the Red9. Same with the shotgun as well.

Too late on that haha.

I just made it to the cemetery and got the 3 extra medallions to get the free gun. Is the Punisher better than the handgun Leon starts out with? Also inventory management, will I ever get extra slots?

Whatcha Buyin' Stranga?

Also if says "I'll buy it at a high price " because he's shit at haggling then it can't be upgraded more
^ Hey now that's completely unfair!

You will be able to upgrade your case space as the game goes on.

I do not like the Punisher, I always sell it for easy cash.

Yes. Whenever you find a new merchant check to see if he dells a new attach case.
Never forget where you came from.

Oh so that's what that is, I'll pick that up then.

I'll give it a quick test on the next guys I see.

Oh yeah are there any guns I should pick up? The game has been giving me a lot of TMP ammo and I have a lot of unused Rifle ammo. Should I buy those two?

BTW TC: Ignore everyones advice about weapons

With the exception of the Minethrower being shit no one can agree on anything and what guns are better and what is worth upgrading depends on player to player. There's no consensus

If someone says "OMG just use da broken butterflt 4eva!" take it with a pinch of salt

Minethrower is fun af decked out

Minethrower is fun, but might not be the best choice for a first run through the game.

This is my basic weapon rundown.

Handgun: Red 9
Shotgun: Shotgun for majority of the game until the Striker becomes available
Rifle: Automatic Rifle (Although nothing wrong with the Bolt-Action if you don't mind reloading. It technically is the stronger weapon)
Magnum: Broken Butterfly (hopefully you pick up the free one which is somewhat easy to miss)
Optional extra firepower: TMP

So I got all 15 medallions but whenever I talk to the merchant he doesn't talk about the reward. Do I have to get a specific section of the game before he gives the reward?

Just go into the buy menu, it should be there and cost 0

Either I'm blind or the game is bugged because I don't see anything :/

Side note though! Just got Ashley from the church. Haven't left the church yet, just been re-organizing my inventory. Now that I have someone I have to take care of I feel stressed.

If it's any consolation you can just shove her in a dumpster and she'll be safe in there while you do all the work

Escort quests suck but RE4 is about as good as an Escort quest can get.

I use the default handgun until I get the Punisher. I use that until I get the Red 9. Blacktail is a good option too but Red 9 does more damage.

I prefer the riot gun over the Striker but thats a personal preference. Striker might be better for beginners due to the high ammo capacity.

TMP is just a handgun with more ammo. I almost always use that if I dont want to fire the Red 9.

Broken Butterfly all the way baby! Its free too.

Oh and use your normal shotgun until you get access to the Riot gun or Striker. Dont upgrade the original.
Grrr
Bolt action rifle FTW! Save money by skipping scopes. You can aim the sniper rifles just fine without a scope.
Grrr
There's a part coming up relatively soon where you can choose one of two paths. Pick one and then go back and do the other.
