The game was a fun third person shooter variant of a soulslike but man did it love cheesing you by swarming you with infinite adds during boss fights. Also there is a bit of jank here and there and not the most aesthetically pleasing game, but was definitely fun for sure.
I wouldn't really call it cheesing. The fights are mostly designed in a way that the add spawns at least make sense. It might feel like the game is just throwing them at you at random, but it's not the case. I think the early part of the game doesn't give a great impression because it's a while before you can really expand both your weapon and armor pool. And right out of the gate you are likely to get at least one potential boss where adds are a major part of the battle. Shroud and Gorefist can both be pretty tough for a newcomer, and you're probably going to fight one of them.
As far as aesthetics, I think the game looks pretty good. Rhom especially.

I'm specifically talking about the dlc.
I haven't gotten far enough to say yet. Just did the first dungeon, which was decent. More puzzle oriented than most dungeons are.
