Grew up with both, loved both. But the Percy series had a more interesting premise, better setting/characters, and was a lot more creative. Its unfortunate that the Harry Potter series got a lot more recognition and popularity.
I can't speak for the books, but I've got to disagree as far as the movies go.

Oh definitely. The Percy Jackson movies were not even close, Harry Potter at least got a accurate well done adaptation with their movies.

Really hope the upcoming live action Disney Plus TV series for Percy Jackson does it justice.
I didn't know it was getting a series.

yea, hopefully Disney+ does it justice.

I read the first one for my MASTER'S THESIS last year

Very fun but a little on the kiddie side with all the angst, great lore and world-building though, not sure if I'll read the other ones however
Sometimes I say things and I'm not voice acting.

Yeah I mean, the first one has the main characters at 12 years old. The characters mature as they age and the later entries are a lot less kiddie/angst, just like Harry Potter did.

Highly recommend reading the later entries if you ever feel up to it, the 4th and 5th books especially are just insanely good.

I think I read the first Percy Jackson. I could just never get into it the way I could into Harry Potter

I remember feeling weird whenever the characters are chained a lot and not understanding why. Was a strong influence on my formative years.
chains are kinda a big thing in greek mythology

I kinda wanted to get into Percy Jackson since I love Greek mythology but a lot of peeps were knocking it for being very teen-ish in its writing so I never did lol

Great series. The follow-up series was pretty cool too. The author also did a short series based on Egyptian deities, not a bad read but not nearly as good. His most recent stuff is based on Norse myths, which is awesome, but I feel like he tries too hard at times to make it goofy.
Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.

it's definitely very teen-ish, but as a whole it's well done. the books are funny too

I only read the first two Percy Jackson books and I disagree. They are funny and entertaining, and Riordan does a great job of capturing the voice of a 12 year old (or however old he was). But the plotting was nowhere close to Harry Potter. The books had a bunch of loosely related side adventures, and could have made a decent TV show.
I am the Cheese! I am the best character on the show! I am better than both the salami and the bologna COMBINED!
I just want more Greek mythology in media in general tbh. There are SO many stories/characters to work with that it's insane how untapped it is.

Trust me dude it's worth it, especially if you really like Greek mythology. These books are what got me into Greek mythology as a teen, and now I'm revisiting them after a decade since last reading them and they held up surprisingly well. I'm now on a Greek mythos binge because of them, going through the God of War games for the first time and planning on playing AC Odyssey, then off to look for more Greek mythology media lol.

It's truly one of the most fascinating subjects out there, and the author of the series makes such great use of all of the stories/characters in really creative ways by blending them into a modern setting. I promise that the later books in the series are much less teen-ish than the first few lol.

The later books, specifically the 4th and 5th (my personal favorites), get much more similar to the plotting of Harry Potter, in the same way that Harry Potter's stories get more complex/involved as he grows from a kid to a young adult in the later novels. I do agree with you that the first few are not as strong in terms of plot though, but I still highly recommend giving the rest of the series a chance if you ever get the time.
Well, yeah, the whole Greek Mythology is a lot better than JK's Mythology

movies sucked ass but the books were indeed better than HP. I did enjoy the HP books quite a bit, as well, though.

Also, the Percy Jackson movies have the girl from THAT scene in it, and that is a bonus

Lol you mean Alexandra Daddario? And I'm assuming you're talking about her scene in True Detective.

Yeah she's really hot, but was an absolutely terrible choice for Annabeth. Terrible portrayal of the character, just like the guy they chose for Grover. Percy was alright though, but I'm sure there's a better choice for him out there than what we got.

This is exactly how I imagined Annabeth would look like as I was reading, hoping they get someone similar to this look for the show:
