seems me and my roommate make slightly above what they allow to be able to rent from them. guessing i'll have to wait a bit longer for an opening somewhere else (still have that waiting list from another complex where we both make within medium) to qualify.

900$ rental sure be nice.

it's one run from the government (extra rules) they have to follow the rules because they get paid by subsidies every year for helping lower income people be able to afford a place.

would have more options but i can't get rid of my dog in any manner unless it's in severe pain of old age or cancer (she's turning 8 next month).

but tbh $900/month is still kinda expensive, in my limited experience.

Apartments in El Paso would go for as cheap as $650/month for a 2 bed/1 bath. Usually caveat would be no overhead lightings, no overhead fans, etc.
