So you walk around with shoes on getting it dirtier which makes you have to clean it more frequently

Sounds barbaric to me

Yeah, exactly.
Who the f* walks in their shoes on the carpet.

I'm white, I'm not an American and over here it's considered rude to wear shoes in someone's house.
Hardwood floors do not absorb dirt like nasty ass carpets, so wearing shoes or not is largely irrelevant
I am an American and my skin is white. I take my shoes off and I like my coffee black.

You're not supposed to have dirt on your fucking feet when walking around your house, ffs.
What's your hygiene standard?
If you don't wear shoes in your house and allow shoe-less strangers in, you're sharing germs and fungus.
Saves me time from having to put them back on which gives me more time to shit post.

I'll take people wearing clean socks over people walking around in dirty shoes.

Or an even better solution, slippers during the winter.
No white Canadians do this. Myself included.

The point being I don't have to take off my shoes to protect the damn floor. Do you really want to be a slave to your carpet? Is that any way to live?

I don't take shoes off in my home to protect the floor. I take them off because I don't fucking want to be uncomfortable whole day long. Or you're really telling me you wear shoes whole day long? Can only imagine how that works out for your health.

And I remove my carpets during the summer because it's hot and it's much more comfortable without them.

For example, it's around +30C here for the whole June-August period. Am I supposed to sweat my feet out whole day long in my home?

Hardwood floors give me a choice. I can take my shoes off, or I can leave them on. The floor does not suffer either way.

I'll give you this one because that's pretty badass

Except that it gets dirty and has to be wiped later on.
Good thing hardwood is so much easier to clean

Lol I bet your house is filth incarnate, dirty ass h
Hardwood is probably the better option if you have pets and kids because it's a lot easier to clean, but overall I prefer carpet for a variety of reasons. I don't have kids or pets, so keeping my carpet clean is extremely easy. Basically all I have to do is vacuum it and get it cleaned once a year (even then it's more of a pre-emptive cleaning than anything else)

Taking my shoes off is not a big deal at all to me. I would do it even if I had hardwood floors.
Hardwood/laminate floors downstairs, carpet upstairs (apart from if you have a bathroom).

No shoes on inside, slippers or socks.

You either don't know the difference between a rug and a carpet, you're lying, or you pay thousands of dollars twice a year to pull up your carpeting and underlayment then have new carpeting installed each year, since you can't reuse pulled up carpeting unless you cut it down for a smaller room than the one it came from.

Where I come from literally noone glues (or whatever you do) the carpets to the floor.
Wtf is that? If it fits the room, it won't move, especially if there's furniture on it.

What's the point of that? It's just ridiculous.

Yeah, but the concept of fixing your carpet/rug/whatever you call it to the floor in your home is kind of ridiculous.
I've never seen any remotely good carpet that moves around.

And washing it is a chore.
Like this, you can just remove them once per year and have them washed.

Because he's talking about FLOORING carpeting... not a rug you lay on the floor

carpeting = wall to wall covering

rug = a mat you put down to make ur home fancy/keep furniture from damaging the floor

You're not getting my point.
I understand your terminology, but I don't understand your reasoning.

I googled how does that stuff look and there's plenty of that stuff where I live, it's just that it's not fixed to the floor. And it never moves around. So if it won't move around, I don't get the point of fixing it to the floor. Really impractical.
Do you guys walk around in dirt all day or something?

You really don't know why they'd fix carpet to the floor in a room where it covers the entire floor?
Backup Conflict alt lol

it's just that it's not fixed to the floor

unless you live in a hopelessly destitute area I am somehow doubtful this is true

unless you can go to a corner and lift the carpeting up, it's clearly glued to the floor

Or you're not American, and this is something we are just not familiar with at all

Honestly, at this point I'm going to need a picture reference of exactly what you are referring to just to make sure I understand what you are talking about.

I mean, if you walk around outside at all and then walk around in your house, you are going to be tracking dirt and grime around your house. Especially over time. Obviously straight up walking in dirt is worse but the fact of the matter is, you aren't really going to be able to avoid it. Keep in mind it's not only outside stuff that matters, you walk around in public bathrooms and other dirty areas as well.

So rather than track in some particulates from your office building, you'll instead track bacteria and sweat from your bare feet everywhere.

Much better.

You can wash your feet for one

For two, yeah I would bet that it probably is better than straight up dirt and grime, which also carries bacteria. Also I doubt that this is a huge problem for most people. I highly doubt that most people's feet are worse than the dirt and grime that exists outside but if you've got something to prove otherwise I'm all ears
