Can I get a cup of coffee, black?
Because I have hardwood floors, not carpet like some sort of barbarian

So you walk around with shoes on getting it dirtier which makes you have to clean it more frequently
Sounds barbaric to me
Hardwood floors do not absorb dirt like nasty ass carpets, so wearing shoes or not is largely irrelevant
If you don't wear shoes in your house and allow shoe-less strangers in, you're sharing germs and fungus.

You're not supposed to have dirt on your fucking feet when walking around your house, ffs.
What's your hygiene standard?
The point being I don't have to take off my shoes to protect the damn floor. Do you really want to be a slave to your carpet? Is that any way to live?
Saves me time from having to put them back on which gives me more time to shit post.
I don't take shoes off in my home to protect the floor. I take them off because I don't fucking want to be uncomfortable whole day long. Or you're really telling me you wear shoes whole day long? Can only imagine how that works out for your health.
And I remove my carpets during the summer because it's hot and it's much more comfortable without them.
Hardwood floors give me a choice. I can take my shoes off, or I can leave them on. The floor does not suffer either way.
Good thing hardwood is so much easier to clean

You either don't know the difference between a rug and a carpet, you're lying, or you pay thousands of dollars twice a year to pull up your carpeting and underlayment then have new carpeting installed each year, since you can't reuse pulled up carpeting unless you cut it down for a smaller room than the one it came from.

Where I come from literally noone glues (or whatever you do) the carpets to the floor.
Wtf is that? If it fits the room, it won't move, especially if there's furniture on it.
What's the point of that? It's just ridiculous.
you're talking about a rug... clearly...
Yeah, but the concept of fixing your carpet/rug/whatever you call it to the floor in your home is kind of ridiculous.
I've never seen any remotely good carpet that moves around.
Because he's talking about FLOORING carpeting... not a rug you lay on the floor
carpeting = wall to wall covering
rug = a mat you put down to make ur home fancy/keep furniture from damaging the floor

You're not getting my point.
I understand your terminology, but I don't understand your reasoning.
I googled how does that stuff look and there's plenty of that stuff where I live, it's just that it's not fixed to the floor. And it never moves around. So if it won't move around, I don't get the point of fixing it to the floor. Really impractical.

Do you guys walk around in dirt all day or something?
I mean, if you walk around outside at all and then walk around in your house, you are going to be tracking dirt and grime around your house. Especially over time. Obviously straight up walking in dirt is worse but the fact of the matter is, you aren't really going to be able to avoid it. Keep in mind it's not only outside stuff that matters, you walk around in public bathrooms and other dirty areas as well.

So rather than track in some particulates from your office building, you'll instead track bacteria and sweat from your bare feet everywhere.
Much better.
