Do you think vaccinating against HPV is worth $600?

My insurance won't cover it, and I didn't get it in high school for free because I'm not a girl (cheapass sexist government). I'm approaching the cutoff age for getting it.

It's pretty pricy, but it's one less thing that might give you cancer down the road.

I hear guys who have sex with guys are higher risk, so less so if you're straight, but I could be wrong. And I'm not sure what the overall prevalence of those types of cancers are in men (though I believe the rates were rising a bit). It's also less effective if you've already had some partners and so exposure. And that's not cheap. Worth it? Um... I don't know.

I could put it off a few more months in case I end up on new insurance that covers it...but I doubt anyone does.

There is also the detail where since all women my age (who aren't allergic) got the vaccine for free in school, I shouldn't be able to get infected in the first place...

I mean 600 is a lot.

But 600k and still die from it is even more.

And there are lots of ways to get it, too.
