What gets me is when people order a large combo but with a diet soda.
Because they're trying to watch their weight
Ehh, there is
some
logic there.
If you're already eating a large meal, adding a drink with extra calories isn't helping. Getting a diet soda means you
are
removing at least
some
of the calories/sugar from the equation.
If the difference is 900 calories versus 1050 for your meal, it's not hugely significant... but it
does
make at least a minor difference. And it can theoretically add up over time.

I'm pretty sure bleach is 0 calories, does that make it healthy?
Most of the things we do as modern humans are unhealthy. That rarely stops us from doing any of those things. Even sitting in front of a screen and posting on social media is doing potential harm to both your eyes and hands.
There's a reason why I said "healthier", not "healthy". The point is, when you're
only
choosing between "sugar soda", "high fructose corn syrup soda", and "artificial sweetener soda", the latter is probably the healthiest of the options. Do healthier options exist? Yes. Does that matter if you're not going to choose them? No.
Sure, if you're going to try and create a false dichotomy between two options, you can tell whatever story you want. But that's not how reality actually works.
