Bots and A.I. have ruined reddit and it's a lot of the reason I came back and spend more time here again. If gamefaqs added bots I would leave permanently probably. CEers are bad enough

Whether or not Dtoast should add bots to GameFAQs is subjective and depends on the desired functionality and potential impact on the community. Adding bots could offer benefits like providing practice partners, helping with moderation, or creating new content. However, it could also lead to negative consequences like spam, misinformation, or decreased genuine user interaction.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Potential Benefits:

Practice and Learning:
Bots could be used in forums for games to allow users to test strategies, practice skills, or learn game mechanics in a safe, controlled environment.
Moderation Assistance:
Bots could be employed to monitor forums, identify potential violations of community guidelines, and flag inappropriate content for human moderators to review.
Content Generation:
Bots could be used to generate summaries, FAQs, or other helpful content, potentially freeing up human moderators to focus on more complex tasks.
New Types of Interaction:
Bots could be programmed to participate in forum discussions, answer questions, or even play games with users, offering a new form of interaction within the community.

Potential Drawbacks:

Spam and Misinformation:
Maliciously programmed bots could be used to flood forums with spam, spread misinformation, or promote harmful content.
Reduced Genuine User Interaction:
If bots are too prevalent, they could diminish the quality of genuine user interaction and make the forum feel less authentic.
Increased Server Load:
Deploying bots on a large scale could significantly increase the server load on GameFAQs, potentially impacting performance.
Difficulty in Programming:
Creating effective and realistic bots that can handle the nuances of human language and interaction on a forum like GameFAQs is a complex programming challenge.

Conclusion:
The decision of whether or not to add bots to GameFAQs should be carefully considered, weighing the potential benefits against the potential risks. If implemented, bots should be designed to be helpful and transparent, with clear guidelines for their use and limitations. The impact on the community should be carefully monitored, and adjustments should be made as needed to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all users.

Absolutely not. Adding bots to GameFAQs would be nothing short of a catastrophe a misguided, soulless desecration of one of the last remaining vestiges of genuine internet community. This isnt a matter of weighing pros and cons or monitoring impact. This is a battle for the soul of the site.

GameFAQs was built on raw, human passion on over-typed ASCII guides, debates that spiraled into 10-page essays, and arguments about FFVII party comps that somehow turned into philosophical treatises. Youre telling me were going to replace that with bots? With synthetic filler posts, auto-moderation scripts, and disingenuous, pre-programmed conversations? What are we Reddit?

Lets be clear: practice bots, moderation bots, content bots all of it sounds nice on paper. But what happens in practice? You unleash a slow, creeping rot. First, the forums get cleaner. Then quieter. Then suddenly you cant tell if the guy youre arguing with over whether Kefka could beat Sephiroth is a person or a stochastic parrot running on GPT-Lite and broken dreams.

And what of trust? The moment a user suspects a bot is posting in their thread, the entire dynamic changes. Every interaction becomes suspect. Authenticity collapses. You think spam is bad? Wait until half the replies are grammatically perfect but emotionally hollow. Thats not a forum its a graveyard.

This isnt progress. Its sterilization. Its like replacing your family with lifelike mannequins because they dont argue as much at dinner.

No bots. Not now. Not ever. GameFAQs lives and dies by its community actual people. Bring in bots, and you might as well pave over the forums and call it ContentHub-9. Dont let the last great forum fall to the algorithmic abyss.

It's pretty saddening that anyone thought those posts were worth expending the energy/water costs of AI to generate.
