Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by?
Austria. I'm pretty sure there are no monsters there.

Plus it's close to Bavaria, which is where I'd really want to go, because I have family roots there.

Australia. A primarily English (culture, not language) country that far removed from the rest of the world sounds fascinating. Closest thing to a parallel universe you can probably get to if you are from the States or the U.K
Austria has less things that want to kill me so that.

Honestly, its basically just the UK with different weather and landscapes. Not a terrible place to be or anything, but I cant see myself hurrying back. Its much less interesting than visiting places with other cultures.
They both have qualities that would be appealing. Australia would be really fun to visit some time, basically British Florida. But Austria would be great to see too, and it would give me more of an opportunity to practice my German.
I've been to both.
Austria has better food, history, and architecture.
Australia has more fun people (lack of language barrier helps a bit here) and more options for activities that aren't possible in a lot of other countries.

Assuming cost were no issue the deciding factor might be travel time. Austria probably takes 11 hours over two flights. Australia takes at minimum 19 hours in two flights and if I want to go anywhere other than Sydney probably another 3- 4 hours on a third flight after that.

Australia. I've lived there before, and it's only ~3 hours away
Australia. Easily.
Austria, better skiing
Been to Australia already, so Austria.

Been to neither, though I live closer to Austria. Neither is at this point an intended destination.

That's good to know. I also imagine it's a bit harder to make a unique trip out of that. At least if you visit the UK, it's a quick hop over to the rest of western Europe

As a holiday destination, it just doesnt have a great deal going for it. Australia, that is.

But yes, Europe is great. Being from the UK, I dont see the appeal of there though.
