And they were real picky about that. Topics that didn't start as ASCII topics and indicate that in the topic title could still get nuked even if they evolved naturally into ASCII topics and the TC was actively participating in them as such. I got warned once for participating in such a topic, because it meant I got like 7 or 8 moderations all at once.

These emoticons represented the best era of the Internet. Used these extensively when I was in middle and high school between 2003 and 2010. Internet before that was too slow and Internet after that started becoming way more social media focused.

These emoticons are halfway between cringe and nostalgic for me. They were used way too much by younger people thinking their funny, especially the more niche and complex ones. But it takes me back to a time before social media so that's nice.
