Nah. I actually let my ice cream sit out for a bit so it softens. I know the freeze dried stuff softens when you start eating, but it's not the same thing.

Was going to say this.

I've seen enough people back in the day talk about it and try it and say it tasted good to be willing to try it (depending on the flavor). I wouldn't go out of my way to track some down or anything, but if someone had some and offered I'd at least try a bite.

I'd be less inclined to try MREs because most soldiers complain about them.

It's also known as freezer burn.
So if you have had freezer burned ice cream, it's basically the same thing.

If you look at the process of freeze dried ice cream, dippin dots are the first step and those aren't very good. I can't imagine, the next step makes it any better. It's just becomes a soft, friable brick of powdered milk and sugar.

I bought some at a bookfare when I was like 7 way back when.

I don't like normal ice cream, but I didnt mind the freeze dried ice cream.
