This is devil's tower in Wyoming. It's a very obvious example of volcanic material(hot magma) ejecting from our Earth and cooling rapidly.

Geologists are still struggling to explain it's formation.

I know that a large object slammed into our planet eons ago in what we currently consider the Southern Ocean. Whatever object hit and whatever the structure of our planet at the time was created the effect that a large amount of volcanic material immediately shot into a glacier.

I'm real surprised that it isn't obvious.

If an object has enough force to drive a column of molten material into a glacier field, it will also cause immense global seismic activity.
