Irate Gamer still amuses me, not like I've watched new videos from him in a long time, but just the idea of him always fascinated me. A guy who is so bad at making videos and writing jokes that they come back around to being ironically funny. And I also recall he's like a crazy pathological liar who would always deny things in the face of overwhelming evidence against him.

Funny enough didn't Irate Gamer eventually do a collap with AVGN like a few years ago?

His social media is legitimately hilarious. He posts insane shit constantly.

Wasn't he into Infowars? And he believed in ghosts too. I hope it's more on the ghost side of things, Infowars isn't as funny to me as it was 15 years ago or whatever now that it isn't so fringey anymore

I used to like Nostalgia Critic before his attempt to retire the character, after he came back he kept trying way too hard to work lengthy skits into the reviews and felt less like a review and more like a thinly veiled skit show. I also grew up and realized that I find critiques of bygone movies and shows to be insufferable. Then also The Wall review dropped and made me hate the guy, what the actual f*** was that and how did no-one stop him?

Nostalgia Critic's take on The Wall alone was enough to completely tank any interest I could have had in his work. That was embarrassing af.

At least AVGN embraces his cringe... kind of. Eh.

It's a shame. I used to think he was funny with decent takes or insights. But that all ended when the world learned how much of an ass he might have been all this time . Like he dropped the veil of decency and doubled down on being an obnoxious jerk. *shrugs*

To be fair to him, a lot of the allegations weren't necessarily about him, as much as they were about his brother and Mike Michaud.

Most of the complaints about him specifically seem to be about him being a bit of a prima donna and control freak when they were doing all of their crossover movies. Which is kind of understandable when you realize these were basically a bunch of amateurs who barely knew what the hell they were doing trying to deal with tons of high-level production issues. Most of the stuff that was said just makes it sound like he was in over his head and cracked a bit under the pressure.

He kind of comes across less like a monster and more just like a bit of a self-centered jerk. But I'd say that most content creators have at least some degree of that, because it's kind of inherent to the sort of person who is extroverted and narcissistic enough to want to be a content creator in the first place.

Granted, I wouldn't necessarily want to hang around with him in real life, but it feels like for a lot of the stuff Channel Awesome got blasted for, he was more clueless than complicit.

I stopped caring about NC before The Wall, because of the same distaste for his skits show, but also because of Channel's Awesome's response to those allegations. So I didn't even know he covered The Wall until this topic; I still don't care.

I doubt he was clueless. Doing the acts himself? Maybe not, outside of being a self-centered jerk, as you put it. But aware? I'd be surprised if he wasn't, and he only wanted to distance himself from that a little once the allegations came out, affecting his image by proximity.

So what happened? From what it sounds like he made a boneheaded review of a Pink Floyd album and everyone is labeling him a monster.

I don't know Irate Gamer and the only thing I know about Linkara is apparently he made a really shitty webcomic at one point.

Back in the day, I used to really like the Nostalgia Critic... but that was before he started shoving more and more skits into his videos. After a while, I just couldn't stand them anymore. I think the last one I tried to watch involved him at some con, running down a hallway while screaming at the top of his lungs. I couldn't even finish the video.

I can still somewhat tolerate the AVGN, but it's clear he's forcing himself to do this stuff now. It's like "okay, gotta be over-the-top naughty right here, people are expecting it" or something. It rarely feels genuine, if at all. I will say, some of his better videos as of late are the more positive ones, like the one he did about Contra. I feel like he should do more of those.
