Which is odd, if you think about it, because most other class subjects are singular.

It's science, not sciences.
Art, not arts.
Writing, not writings.
Literature, not literatures.
Chemistry, not chemistries.
Biology, not biologies.

"Physics" is the only other common class name I can think of off the top of my head that's pluralized.

That too may differ per locale. I think arts may be correct in the UK, and at least German does pluralize science (Naturwissenschaft en for natural sciences).

We talk about the arts in the UK, but as a school subject, its art.

So here's a question I've been wondering a while. Are international schools more typically based on British English? Maybe it's a case by case basis between country and school? I feel like I've heard from people who attended and learned English through these schools claim it was based more on British English. But in contrast, all films and music they consume come from America, so they get a mix of influence in the end.

There are international schools based on American English, but, at least in my locale, theyre becoming more rare. Which form of English they use tends to depend on which curriculum they teach. American curriculum is in less demand here these days as the perception of American education is lower, to the degree that American teachers get paid less than Brits.
