I didn't know what else to call them. It's not like I use them in my daily life. I just need to drain an infection.

I spent probably a good hour or so trying to figure out what they were called before I made the thread. I always thought "safety pin" was more broad and covered a variety of pin types, so that never would've come to mind.

And in the old days larger ones were used to pin up diapers (and some people still do).

Though oddly enough, my mother always used to keep a little jar full of safety pins in the same desk she kept most of her office supplies, so apparently it is a thing that some people think of them as an office-related item.
