I just realized you could have a niece and nephew that's older than you.

It goes against conventional thinking, but I wonder if anybody on this board is an aunt or uncle to somebody who's older than them.

Not quite, but a couple of my nephews are only a couple years younger than me or my brother, so we used to play together as cousins do.

Ive taught kids in this position a few times.
Theoretically, yes.

Not quite that severe, but my brother was 11 years older than me. And my friend's wife has a sister that's about 16 years younger than her.

Once you start factoring in older men having kids with younger wives (like Tony Randall having a kid when he was 76!), there's always the possibility of having a kid when you're young, then hooking up with a younger woman decades later and having a kid that's 20+ years younger than their sibling. And it's even theoretically possible for a woman, if she has her first kid really young (as a teen mom), then has another kid before she hits menopause. That gives the first kid a potential window of about 10-15 years to get pregnant themselves in order for their child to be older than its own aunt/uncle.

Nothing like it for me - I'm about 25 years younger than my youngest aunt/uncle.

You could also have a parent who's older than your grandparents of the other side.

Same for me. My parents had me when they were around 30, and they were both the youngest in their respective families. So all of my aunts and uncles were nearly in their 40s (at least) by the time I was old enough to know them.

Though that actually created the weird quirk that my mother was around the same age as her niece (she was about a year older). And it meant that most of my cousins on my mother's side were adults when I was a kid, so I almost thought of them more the way most people think of their aunts and uncles.

I think Fry was older than his mom.
My youngest first cousin is a few months older than one of my oldest first cousin's kid. Not quite the same thing but kind of crazy how there's almost an overlap between two generations.

My grandmother adopted two foster children so I have two uncles who are a year and two years younger. Also I have a niece who is a couple years younger.

But your dad is 2 years older than his niece/nephew

Although they're very close in age.
