Pretty much this. It can be extremely dangerous and needs to be respected accordingly, but I wouldn't call that "spooked" so much as it is recognizing a genuine hazard, and I'm familiar enough with it that I understand how to mitigate that risk (like leaning forward a bit while walking on it so more of my weight is on my leading foot, keeping it closer to perpendicular to the ice and therefore reducing the risk of slipping).
