They came complete, too. You could just boot them up. It's nice to throw in a 16 bit era cartridge and the game is already loaded upon boot

Games didn't always come complete; Sonic & Knuckles is famous for its lock-on technology but today it would be known as an incomplete game, or the rest could have been sold as DLC. Also no updates was a bigger deal than you'd think; it meant a broken or glitched game stayed that way forever.
