With drive by wire it's easy, but with mechanical/hydraulic steering it's actually quite difficult as it requires a considerable rearrangement of the engine compartment.

Officially, the right. However, there really arent any rules here. Driving on the pavement is fine. Driving on the wrong side of the road is fine.

Right in the Netherlands. I myself last drove in 2022, sold my car in 2023 and let my license expire last year.

The side with traffic moving in the same direction as myself. I find its much safer that way.
