Zoomers seem slightly less terrible, and they're less responsible for everything in pop culture going to shit over the last couple decades, so they win by being less shit, I suppose.

I mean, I'm a Xennial, I already mostly hang out with older millenials for the most part. I also went back to school in my late 30s-early 40s and was around Zoomers all the time and they seemed mostly nice and didn't care they were grouped with a 40+ year old for stuff lol
Millennials just seem like a generation of people who like to bitch and complain about everything but not want to do anything to improve their situation.

Zoomers are complainers too, but at least they are willing to do things to improve their situation rather then using their shitty existence as a badge of honor.

They're both relatively the same. Zoomers are just aggressive / Millenials are more passive.

Both gens have issues with reading comprehension / emotional stability.

I think us Millennials were spoiled with so much cool shit to play, do ,etc if you were middle class+.

Zoomers are cooler cuz they had to think outside the box to have fun on average.

Millennials constantly looking to blame all of their failings on other people is one of the things that make Millennials the worst generation.

It's kind of a meme at this point that the "participation trophy generation" has absolutely no sense of personal responsibility or accountability. This sort of thing just kind of provides evidence that it's true (regardless of whether or not it actually is).

Though even if we accept the premise that Millennials had it more terrible than anyone else (ignoring all of their advantages, or the fact that other generations before them had their own tragedies and traumas), nearly every excuse Millennials use to absolve themselves of personal responsibility would also apply to the younger generations as well. If Millennials had to suffer through all of the fallout from the poor decisions of Gen X/Boomers, then Gen Z had to deal with all of the same fallout, AND all of the things Millennials ruined as well. And so on.

You can only blame so much on the Boomers (or on everyone older than you because Millennials don't really seem to know what "Boomers" actually are). Eventually you kind of have to accept that, at a certain point, you also fucked up. Or conversely, if you get to blame everything on your parents and society so nothing is ever your fault, that they also got fucked up by their parents and society, so it's not their fault either. You can't really have it both ways, no matter how much you want to. (And also, you might want to prepare for the fact that eventually Zoomers and Alpha are going to start telling you how terrible YOU are, and how when you finally had the chance to fix things you fucked everything up too.)

And I'm still 100% firm in my assertion that Millennials are basically just Boomers who don't realize they're Boomers. You all went through your "1960s Old People Suck and We're Going to Save the World" phase, and your "Early 70s' Let's Do Drugs and Drop Out" phase, and now you're going through your "Late 70s Disillusionment" phase. You're following in the Boomers' footsteps so closely you might as well be clones. Every time you rant about them and gag over how terrible they are, you're just looking in a mirror.

Right, accept this falls apart instantly as soon as we step outside of Meme World.

Mountains upon mountains of evidence have already proven that Millennials at least (and Gen Z and those coming after) are much worse off in every metric that matters vs. their predecessors, specifically BECAUSE of the actions of said predecessors. Be economic prosperity, social mobility, education accessibility and rates, etc., it's all worse than generations before.

The only argument against it is there was nothing inherently uniquely bad about Boomers/Gen X that caused this. Greed and shortsightedness doesn't adhere to such strict rigors of generations, after all. But it still remains these generations doomed future ones to a lesser existence, and they are still the ones in charge of everything. It's uncertain at this rate if things can change the better, anyways. Cogs in the machine, and all. An aside from an *improbable* blow up and start from scratch approach, the powers that be won't relinquish their power so easily, or by just dying off.

The counterpoint to the memes is the extremely tone deaf responses like "avocado toast" and "participation trophy", except unlike memes, they actually come from the mouths of god damn Congressmen and the like. No, I'd say an entire generation has a legit bone to pick when the prior Gen, in power and who made things awful to begin with, suggest they just work 2 jobs to get through college like they did. You know, when that was actually a feasible thing to do. Upon many other examples.

The point flew over your head there, matey.

Most didn't need 2 jobs back in the gay for college. Hell, my parents were by any definition poor, and still got into sub-Ivy league school working their way through college with (1) concurrent job. But some may have needed 2.

2 jobs doesn't even come close to paying for standard tuition now, let alone any sort of living accommodations, expenses, etc. Which is beside the point is that even if they COULD, needing 2 jobs + school that rob your every waking hour on just those things just to have hope of a future is a sign of a failed society, which we are currently in. It's only feasible in an absolute vacuum, and even then only maybe.

So yeah, telling a younger generation to do things the prior generations did to get by, that no longer work primarily because of the actions of said prior generations is pretty high on the list of tone deafness and why societal struggles exist as they do. It's a little troubling I even have to explain that.

And my point is that regardless of some things being easier then they used to be and some things being harder then they used to be doesn't change the fact that no one is outright preventing me from doing what I want to do. If I really want to get a degree but I have to work two jobs while going to university full time to do it then that is exactly what I am going to do. I will buckle down and do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals and damn any idiot who thinks they can stand in my way.

Cool, the hell does that have to do with anything I had to say?

My point, which you chose to reply to, is that current and future generations have it harder financially and prospective wise than generations prior, specifically because of actions and choices of said prior generations. Meaning, yeah, current and future gens have a lot of right to complain about being sleighted, and past generations shouldn't say dick about it.

Hence, the idiotic "they just need to bootstrap like.my generation did!" doesn't work, because it's not even possible to do the same actions for the same results and all.

I, uh, applaud you on your heroic feats if determination, though.

Take the energy you spend complaining and do something about it.

The complaining is really what makes me sick because that is all my generation wants to do. Shut up and do it, and if you don't like that you had to do it, change it so people in the future don't have to.

I do.

But, real change is pretty hard to inact, since the old guard ways of past generations are entrenched in all manner of control, and they are still the ones running the show. Some od the entrenched ways aren't their faults, either, rather the shitty political way this country was designed.

Or, to put it another way, I'd have to Thanos-snap prior gens out of existence completely to even have the *chance* to change for the better.
