It gets worse.Get Sherlock'd
I watched season 1 trusting they were being too smart for me, when I got to the finale realized every criticism was legit.
The second season is notably better than the first, if very heavily loaded with fanservice to try and entice people that were turned off by how little the first season had to do with any existing LotR material. It still suffers from questionable pacing and a lot of half-baked story beats that made a whole lot more sense when I learned that there are different directors for different episodes. The Celebrimbor/Annatar stuff is actually quite solid.I heard they lean into
I heard they lean intoMeme Bombadiland portray him as some kind of super powerful wizard, which is definitely not what he is in the books.
Why does this show look so cheap. The cgi looks like Willie Wonka vomited on the camera. The outfits look like costumes rather than clothes. The dialogue is clunky. Theres too many plot lines, and none of them are interesting. Galadriel does not act like Galadriel. Elf action man (what even is his name?) has one emotion, which is anger. So much time is spent on the not Hobbits and not Gandalf and nothing is happening. The Hobbit plotline should have been cut out of season 1, it's completely disconnected from everything and was only there to bait people into thinking the old dude was
Im just watching it cus I cant believe they spent a billion dollars on this.
You save a lot of weight by getting your armour at Spirit Halloween instead of an actual armourer.Yeah I am so sick of that trope. I love when the odd scene shows characters actually have armor on. Game of Thrones did this a few times early on, then forgot. Best of course being with Jorah tanked the Dothraki attack and split his face open. Which was also foreshadowed earlier about how their weapons were useless against armor.
The thing that concerns me about season 2 is that they really blew their load as far as fanservice went. S1 had very little to do with any existing LotR material, which disappointed a lot of people, and I feel like they overcompensated with S2 in a way that's going to be hard to follow up (both in terms of keeping that level of fanservice up and because several of the choices they made for fanservice's sake have made it harder to continue certain plotlines). I'm cautiously optimistic about S3 after the way S2 managed to salvage things, but there are a lot of issues with how S2 has set things up that are going to complicate that.Idk I'd kind of disagree with season 1. They made Elrond, Galadriel and

As if somehow admitting they are improvising will ruin them or something.Sauroninto main cast characters. It was just their personalities and motivations were nonsensical and didn't match up with existing lore.
I'd been interested inSauron at first, as I thought they were building to a narrative where he was trying to be good and atone, but would be rejected and fall deeper into evil. But they just doubled down on everything somehow being part of his master plan, which made no sense at all.

They pretty much just dropped a bunch of canon names and then wrote fanfiction about them with little regard for existing lore. S2 has done a lot more to wrangle it into something that vaguely resembles canon, though still with some pretty glaring inconsistencies (especially around timelines).Show should have been called "The Second Age" given that it's meant to compress the entirety of the second age into a tv series.
they gotta stop hiring fanfic writers. No that would be an improvement
they gotta stop hiring fanfic writers. The writers literally aren't even fans. It's just nepo hires.
