November 2011 was a pretty incredible month for game releases, and Skyrim was the pinnacle of it.

I can barely play base Skyrim without it crashing, I'm not adding any extra junk in.

That is easy, it's called unpatched, patched or modded lol.
you haven't set a signature for the message boards yet!
I'm not a pc gamer so I only played the base game, but I just do not get the love for Skyrim. I got into it for a couple weeks but after one too many dragon attacks I checked out

If you told me 13 years ago that we wouldn't have an Elder Scrolls VI by now I'd have laughed at you
What would Bligh do?

Seriously though, it's inexcusable. And if/when it does release (at some point in the 2030s), it'll probably suck because Bethesda is a shadow of what they used to be.

They also clearly learned zero lessons from Starfield.

...and seem to fall into the same trap that BioWare does (and Bungie, for that matter), of assuming quality content will somehow magically appear at some point because it's them . Not really processing the idea that most of the actual talent who made those games in the past no longer work for you, and corporate culture as a whole has shifted to the point where it's not even remotely the same company, even if you've still got the brand name pasted on like a mask on the face of a walking corpse.

Sadly, most of the really fantastic studios of the 2000s and 2010s are now looong dead. Even if it hasn't always been made official yet.

They're in the position that a lot of major developers are in where they are unable/unwilling to create the content that people want and believe they can just gaslight their audience into buying their product anyways and dismiss any criticism as another "ism". And it isn't an issue that is just plaguing video games, either. I sincerely hope this type of corporate culture is put into the ground sooner than later.
It's not the best RPG, arguably not even a good one at that, but it was incredible in it's own way, the atmosphere, music, setting and more make it such a cozy game to come back to, as much as I hate the barren RPG mechanics, the patheticly bad writing and consistent bugs I love it all so much and it came at a very important time of my life as I transitioned into a new stage of my life. So many days and nights spent playing while in a group chat talking about quests and stuff we all found, memorable moments, bugs and so on. It's so easy to get lost in the setting, reading books, cooking food, chatting to NPCs or delving into dungeons.

No matter what I think of Bethesda now it remains one of my favorite games ever and will remain so untill I leave this world.

Richard Garriott is the Ultima guy. Star Citizen is from Chris Roberts, the Wing Commander guy.

Ironically, both them are tied to Origin Systems. Which, to bring everything full circle, was one of the studios that EA devoured and fucked the corpse of in the past.
