Well, I did the other two...I suppose I should I do the third - Lucy Dacus.
To be perfectly honest, I love her solo stuff a lot less than Phoebe's or Julien's. It's hard to put my finger on it exactly, but Lucy just does...less for me. This, in spite of the fact that she's the primary architect of 2 out of 3 of my favorite boygenius songs. Weird how that works, right?
Lucy is sweet, philosophical, wry, and possessed with a brutally effective deadpan. If I had to get sushi with one of the boys, it would be Lucy: she appreciates how fucking delicious eel is. She's eager to indulge in Phoebe's antics
including Phoebe's war on public decency
and, of course, is Julien Baker's girlfriend. But I'll try....
Solo
Night Shift - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDNjt2lHBO4
The quintessential Lucy Dacus song. It's legit fire. If only it were representative of her discography...
Kissing Lessons - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU1uynSjLvY
This one is sweet.
Modigliani - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTWg2QND5u4
This one is about Phoebe, apparently.
Most Wanted Man - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNQ07ZckqJA
And this one's about her lesbian boyfriend, Julien Baker. Apparently, before they met and Lucy knew her only as a name, she thought Julien was just some dude. Maybe she wasn't as far off the mark as she thought at first, considering Julien yeeted her teets...
Lucy is 1000% the bottom and Phoebe and Jasmine and Chappell probably tease her about.
boygenius
True Blue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_lIApYxIIE
The conclusion of "the film" - directed by Kristen Stewart! Also contains 200% more making out than the first two parts, so it's like...200% better. Yes, Lucy and Phoebe make out platonically.
But I think of two lovely ladies in my life when I listen to this song about the power of friendship...
We're in Love - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyaoGdQVSks
Primo lesbian wedding material. Is this about Julien too?
Afraid of Heights - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB0YjuHYbPE
"...how we're caught in entropy. How it hurts to hope. Oh, it hurts to hope for more. Oh, it hurts to hope the future will be better than before."
"Everybody wants to go heaven
But nobody wants to die to get there." -TORRES, "Keep the Devil Out"
