Personally, I don't like any of the NES Final Fantasy games much at all but 1 obviously gets special consideration since it started the whole series. I think 5 gets underrated in most lists though despite being great and actually funny. FF would benefit a lot from not taking itself so seriously in every single entry.

I actually started a replay of 8 and despite the story being extremely confused and kind-of directionless it might be my favourite PS1 FF because I like the way the characters act and there's a lot of not-that-serious stuff that goes on that keeps it from being a horrible drag any time story happens.

Finally an opinion that I basically agree with you on. I need to replay 12 and 10 to refresh how much I like those two (12 might not be as good as I remember and 10 might be a vicious time vampire) but if Tactics isn't eligible for its rightful 1st place then 5 is top 3 easily.

Did you come from the same universe Helly is from? Where everything is backwards and reversed?

The FFVIII characters are some of the worst in the entire history of gaming, let alone the FF franchise alone.

Completely hilariously 100000% wrong. Especially since Quistis is by far the worst character in the cast for the first two CDs because her whole deal is just "angry teacher -> in love with Squall for no reason --> cool orphan lady?" before she develops a personality.
