I used to believe that but I have opened my mind since being an edgy teenager. Now I love me some rap, reggae, blues, jazz, etc.

I still think it's the best by far, but not the only good kind of music.

Even though all I listen to are those two genres, I do not share that viewpoint. The other genres just don't do anything for me.

I feel bad for people who can't find enjoyment in most kinds of music. There's just so much good stuff out there, and I can usually find myself getting into the mood with almost any kind of music I'm listening to.

If they start talking crap about whole genres and treat them as garbage though, I feel a lot less bad for them and just wave them off as the closed-minded goons they are. I've wasted too much time trying to defend things to people like that; it's a fool's errand and not worth the energy.

Actually, I'm the opposite. I don't like music that is loud and bangy, and hard rock and heavy metal are often like that. I used to think that music that is not classical or traditional folk songs suck. I started expanding my taste in music in college.

They are my favorite genres, but I do like to branch out into others. Hell, even Metal has a thousand different sub-genres that mixes it with just about everything.

i listen to mostly rock music. the reason for this is like a lot of people i grew up on rock. and i liked rock almost exclusively since being a teenager. Now, the fun is kinda seeing what type of spin there can be on the whole rock thing. There's so much variety out there, that's what keeps it interesting.

But i respect almost all genres of music, even if I don't listen to them much.
