i don't like the changes they did to abilities, not the weapon skills are usually tied to armor pieces, so you could very well make a suit that has no abilities.
aerial and darrilbalde seem to be the only wfm suits in the game, and aerial in particular is pretty gimped, there is no bit on form mode, the psuedo permet score mode it has isn't anything different from like trans-am. your suit just glows red, all of it not just the pieces in aerial that are meant to, and you move a little faster. wow. moreover, she has no weapon skills aside from shooting her gun with her bits if you have the shield (it's also got a long startup time despite not being very strong). they are apparently adding calibarn in at a later date, along with shining mighty freedom, so that's cool, but it just seems like every single suit to date should be in this game at this point. that's a lot to ask, but like, cmon now man.
much like breaker 3 and probably 2 and 1 there is little mission variety, with some not even being in the game like core defense. in fields, you teleport to the next area as soon as you kill the 2 or 3 waves of 4-5 suits that teleport in. what little "exploration" there was in breaker 3, for example, is just gone. not that it really did anything to begin with but whatever.
it doesn't seem like there's vehicles, like there was in 3.
none of the story appears to take place outside of the "game", but the fact that there are animated cutscenes with the suits involved kind of make up for that in a way. it's effectively the same, but it also means there's no vn style backgrounds, so it's kind of boring to look at.
combat is strange, in 3, you could sort of pull dynasty warriors type moves off by pressing another button in a basic combo. it wasn't much, but you could do it. that's gone now. sort of, you have to have a 2nd weapon equipped, which is fine, but they also could just not interact with each other so you don't get any different combos aside from the one generic there is. it just feels completely unintuitive to me.
as far as i can tell, there are no mg parts you can get like in 3, which to be fair i never got since i think you had to beat the game and i never did, but it's something to note. it's just hg for you. it would be cool if even rg was in, but i don't really know how that would work since technically everything is rg detail level i think. to be fair! you can just straight up increase or decrease the sizes of parts, so you can make a psuedo mg if you wanted
all in all it does just feel like a sequel to breaker 3, with some question design choices that i can see being made to be an "improvement" to how it's counterpart worked in 3, but some of it is kinda miss.
i'm having hella fun, and after having played the game on pc instead of the switch, uhhhh
don't get the switch version. having 60fps makes a huge difference. even going through menus is lightning fast on not the switch, where it takes a little longer.
