"Don't act like a dweeb" sounds like a pretty negative thing to say to somebody, both in the literal sense ("don't do X" is a negative statement) and in the sense of being pejorative.
Counterpoint just for the sake of it:
telling someone to do something is equally negative, if not moreso, since you are restricting them to exactly one way of being. If I say to you "be normal," it can be construed in the same way as if I said "don't be anything but normal." All a matter of framing and perspective and yes, I get your point, but it's very late at night and I am bored.
