Or like people assuming the word meme was invented online in the early 2000s when it was originally coined in the 70s.
I can't prove that "core memory" (in the sense of foundational formative experiences) was in use before 2015, and I'm sure most modern use - especially by younger people -
is
referencing Inside Out, but "core memory" (in a different context)
has
been a tech term for 70+ years.
Wikipedia tells me "core memories" were a thing in Star Fox Assault (2005) though.
