Neat!

I assume you are not referring to early magnetic storage then.
Lol I never even thought of that when I'd see that term on YouTube comments. Just thought it was another Gen z slang. And I actually watched inside out back when it came out.

Neat indeed.
I feel like its always been a term. Its like learning that Debbie downer was coined by SNL in the mid-2000s and not something from 1850

That doesn't sound right to me but okay.

Or like people assuming the word meme was invented online in the early 2000s when it was originally coined in the 70s.

I can't prove that "core memory" (in the sense of foundational formative experiences) was in use before 2015, and I'm sure most modern use - especially by younger people - is referencing Inside Out, but "core memory" (in a different context) has been a tech term for 70+ years.

Wikipedia tells me "core memories" were a thing in Star Fox Assault (2005) though.

I learned about memes in a sociology course back when I thought it was pronounced me-me. Good times.

so maybe I was a bit mislead about core memories. Debbie Downer is still wild tho

Yeah I had never heard the term before that movie came out, and people actually think core memories are a real thing and not something made up by the movie now.

I remember that famous atheist Richard Dawkins invented the word meme

He had no idea what it would become

I bet you say that to all the boys...
I remember the term core memory from when I was a kid. Pixar wasnt even a studio at that time.
