The job itself should be fixed.
There shouldn't be jobs that suck and pay poorly cause desperate people will take the job. These companies should pay the workers what they deserve, plus allow them to treat the customers the way they are being treated.
Jobs aren't meant to be fun, but they shouldn't suck "cause it's a job for a high schooler".

And it's always funny when people say that because every food service and retail job that I've had has mostly older people working there.

On top of that, I now work as a manager and it's easier than any food service job I ever had, but I get paid way more than I ever did at any food service job except for when I bartended. Bartending was comparable pay. Still a little less pay though and waaaay more work for what you make

It's not the pay or lack of opportunity (although those are bad) it's working with the food, cleaning up after the customers, etc.
