The food is good and the Griffith Observatory is a cool place to visit. Not much else about it I'd recommend.
And with that... pow! I'm gone!
I've been to Disneyland three times, so at very least I've been at the LA airport since I'm not sure that Anaheim counts. Aside from that I haven't done anything in LA.

Maybe, but it would have been when I was really, really young

Yes I have been there a couple of times.

It was fun walking down Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard and going to The Chinese Theatre.

No, and I hope to continue in that fashion. I avoid the US as much as I can.
Many, many times

Mostly Anaheim, LAX a few times, Hollywood, E3 that one year, passing through it to get to San Diego

'No wouldnt want to visit'

I've heard and listened to more scary stories about (Los Angeles) than relaxing ones.

Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, liked KBF more (circa 1989.) Wouldn't want to go anywhere near the place now, it was bad enough back then. I'd much rather visit Tokyo Disneyland.
Flown to LAX a few times but never stayed there
What would Bligh do?
I lived there for two months when I was less than a year old. Didn't go back for thirty plus years.

Then my GF and I had plane tickets to Vegas. We were planning on a golden knights game Friday and the backstreet boys Saturday. Our flight to Vegas was actually cancelled due to snow for the first time in twenty years there. So we got a flight to LA, rented a car, stopped by the dispensary and Jack in the box, then sat in traffic for five hours. We did drive past the Hollywood sign at least

I have been to the LA area a few times. great museums, decent beaches. And horrible streets that are very dirty with garbage and traffic and angry people all around. LAX is also in its own tier as the worst airport I've ever been to and it gets worse every year.

The Uber drivers all tell tales about how they left their old life behind to come and breathe fumes all day in the scorching sun which apparently is how paradise feels like.

Laguna Beach is OK for a short trip. Fly into SNA, hit some beaches, hikes, restaurants, and go home. you can walk mostly everywhere or there is a free public bus that takes you up and down the coast.

Or, you can rent a car and stay in the city and see the local points of interest in LA. you can drive 45 minutes in each direction to park your rental car at a strip mall and eat strip mall food like the locals do.
I was last in LA proper, back in 2004. Wasn't a fan of the traffic or the people. I preferred San Diego and the coastal towns more.

Driving along the roads Tom Petty sings about, while listening to those same songs during a nice, breezy sunset is actually very relaxing. But as a Canadian, LA just had too many people. And those people were very entitled from my limited interactions. A very different vibe than San Diego.

At the time I wanted to see San Francisco. However thanks to the poop maps, I don't ever see myself going to San Fran before I die at the rate of it's decay.

May I suggest a visit to Vancouver Island. ALSO, drinking age in British Columbia is 19 instead of 21 like the states. Granted some places in Canada are 18, but not on the west coast. But Vancouver Island would be a great place to take a relaxing ocean side vacation. Granted you go at the right time of year, unless you like torrential rains. In which case go when ever :D
