You know what I meant you silly goose. No, dude, we really don't know what you mean. You're acting like they drew a bunch of pentagrams while chanting curses and then ate some babies or something. What actually happened is that you got uncomfortable watching them.
they have the biggest stick up their assI wonder if this is what happens when a child is not given colorful toys during crucial stages of development. "COLORFUL OUTFITS?! NOOOOOOO SATAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!"
We're talking about Christians, not Muslims. They obviously condemned it.
There's a lot of generational trauma caused by Catholics.Yeah. When I see PoC Catholics, I'm like, you know they absolutely abused the shit out of your ancestors, right?
Like Jesus dude, there's MULTIPLE genocides going on in the world, but this is what you see Satan in?
Lol this is my actual dad.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/5/521be0ec.jpg

A bunch of posts being critical of Christian fundamentalists got nuked. Looks like Yellow's warned for them, but I don't remember who else was involved. At least the topic wasn't nuked.
It was extremely goofy to watch. Why they decided to shove that into the Olympic opening ceremony, I have no idea. They didnt seem to know their audience. The Olympics opening are always over the top/cringe. Who cares. Gojira played.
Nah, someone in this very topic got warned for criticizing Christian fundamentalists. You see this, broseph? @Sirius
You see this, broseph?
Oh, so it's ok to defile the name of the husband to the Virgin Mary!?! Did I get that right, GameFaqs!?!
You do realize youre allowed to leave at any time and never post here again, correct? That is a thing you can do.
Lol oh you.
Oh, so it's ok to defile the name of the husband to the Virgin Mary!?! Did I get that right, GameFaqs!?!I am quite sorry
You do realize youre allowed to leave at any time and never post here again, correct? That is a thing you can do.Woosh!
You do realize youre allowed to leave at any time and never post here again, correct? That is a thing you can do.Zangulus saying this is fucking fantastic.
So, youre saying you dont understand? Weird flex.
So, you're allowed to bash Christians on this site.
But you can't say anything else.
Absolutely FANTASTIC opening ceremony! Wow, such lovely and tolerant people. Amazing. They love everybody, truly.
Did I do that right for Gamefaqs?
Oh, so it's ok to defile the name of the husband to the Virgin Mary!?! Did I get that right, GameFaqs!?!
Guess I have to explain the whoosh.
You are truly doing God's work.I couldn't do it without your help, my friend.
The left are a bunch of snowflakes, just because the right is too doesn't mean the left isn't
Typically, Olympic opening ceremonies artistically showcase a combination of the host nation's history and culture, as well as influences from the ancient Greek Olympic tradition.I didn't know Snoop Dogg was torch bearer this year? Neat.
I didn't watch the entire opening ceremony, but I watched a clip of this particular part, and I have absolutely no idea what they were trying to convey with this. I can't see how anyone involved in planning or performing this could have thought for even a moment that it was going to be either entertaining or even a good idea.
I don't generally have an issue with people being critical of religion. Religions are ideas, and ideas are meant to be challenged. But there's such a thing as a time and a place. This was out of place and extremely cringy.
On a different note, having Snoop Dogg as a torch bearer, and the performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion similarly made little sense as they do nothing to display either France or the Olympics as a whole.
At the same time, I really don't give a shit about any of it.
What baffles me about these people is that no matter who you are and what you say you cannot pull them out of thier altered perception of reality, no amount of explaining how Drag Queens aren't pdf.files and how Drag Shows are not inherently sexual will convince them that is true. With all the recent pedo scandals in church going on, they project an awful lot in hindsight.
To add to what Gaawa_chan wrote earlier, they depicted a feast of the greco-roman gods, which is such a common concept in art that there is a wikipedia page for it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feast_of_the_Gods_(art)
One of those works is The Feast of the Gods by Jan van Bijlert:

Notice Dionysus lying in the foreground and Apollo with the halo around his head in the middle of the picture.

Yeah... long-haired blonde man on the right looks more like Poseidon than any apostle I can think of. In Greek mythology, the father of Dyonisus is Zeus, who is the greek equivalent to the Egyptian god Amun, who was usually depicted with blue skin. Not sure if that's why they made him look like a smurf here, but there you go.
To be clear, I wouldn't have known any of this without research. But that's exactly what makes me so mad about a lot of conservatives and their mouth-pieces. They don't care if they have even the slightest idea what they're talking about. They will just start blabbering and living out their victim-complex and will learn absolutly nothing from being proven wrong time and time again.

They don't care if they have even the slightest idea what they're talking about. They will just start blabbering and living out their victim-complex and will learn absolutly nothing from being proven wrong time and time again. This is the problem with ignorance. If you don't learn about anything beyond your own life, the only way you ever understand anything is to try and reframe it within the context of your own limited world view. If you don't know something as simple as "hey look at that weird headpiece that blue dude is wearing, I've seen stuff like that a lot in Greek mythology," but you do know that "demons exist, gay people bad, gay people and demons! DEMONS AND GAY PEOPLE! TABLES WITH PEOPLE ALONG THEM! MUST BE MOCKING JESUS! MUST BE!" well...
Where did Melody go, @HelIWithoutSin ?
Is she okay?
Ray Comfort: How did matter come into being?
?: We don't know exactly, but we are pretty sure about how the universe came to be shaped how it is.
Ray Comfort: Well, I know how. God made it come into being, and I know that because the Bible says so and the Bible is the Word of God so that's how it happened.
?: How do you know the Bible is the word of god? And how did god do that?
Ray Comfort: Because it is, and He just did

Which Ray Comfort video is that?*shrug* been over a decades since I listened to that dishonest grifter. It's an argument he regularly used, but I couldn't tell you if he still does.
Christians are allowed to be offended in the same way that Muslims are allowed to be offended by anyone disrespecting their prophet.Yeah, if it's about them, sure. Too bad it's not.
I don't know, maybe you're right and it was not intended to reference anything Christian at all. And of course some go too far by spreading hatred and bigotry. But that's literally all this freakout is. By calling the characters in the performance demons, and calling the performance a satanic mockery of The Last Supper out of ignorance, that is an attack against the people who made and performed it. I have no respect for Christians who hate the gays more than they love their neighbor.
