Yet Waxwork 2 is a fever dream of person suffering though through a psychotic break.
It is a direct sequel to the first movie and has almost nothing to do with the first movie other than a few returning characters
This movie has irrevocably altered the course of my life.
There is a scene between the main character and a bad guy sword fighting while they constantly jump between points in time. When they get back to the original time point theyre supposed to be fighting in, a medieval time period, theyre preceded through the time door by a robot.
That in and of itself is weird af, right? But, as we watched the two battle across multiple points in time, they always change their appearance to fit the aesthetic of the time period they are currently in, which heavily implies the medieval time theyre in has active living robot people.
In todays episode of Things that permanently altered my brain chemistry, we have the movie Waxwork 2.
Now I think Ill watch Wishmaster 2, so that I can have a more normal movie watching experience. Which as a person in prison making a wish for attorney to go fuck himself. Said attorney then proceeds to do so... and enjoys it.
I also know some sequels, especially those that are especially discordant with their predecessors, are stories that are shoehorned into an existing IP to make them a better sale to audiences. Case in point Die Hard 4. The original story had nothing to do with Die Hard or John McClain, but they changed the main character and added in the daughter to make it easier to sell.
That, however, is not the case with Waxwork 2. Both Waxwork movies were written and directed by the same person.
