Going on a 2 day backpacking trip next week. Usually I'll hike for a couple hours on a day off or while camping but this will be the first dedicated hiking trip. Hopefully I'll be able to hike a section of one of the big trails next year.

I love hiking too and I used to go biking and/or hiking a lot alone, until I saw too many hiking horror story videos on yt.

bring binoculars. also recommend downloading the Merlin app. It's very good at identifying birdsong

I love hiking. I have a lot fun and find it peaceful. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot time to do it because of work.

Id be too paranoid of coming across a random stranger or wild animal. Id carry bear mase minimum or a handgun for protection

Most things are scared of you and most things avoid the human smelling trail.
But obviously it depends where the trail is. I'm worried to go out in grizzly Bear country
