Before anyone could read tweets and search through tweets instantly unless the user made their account private. Now twitter is a private forum that you can only view by having account

I'm surprised embedded tweets still work
Some guys have all the luck, Some guys have all the pain
Some guys get all the breaks, Some guys do nothing but complain
I've been suspended there for almost a year so far (their appeal process is REALLLLLY slow) for calling Jordan Peterson a chud

You should make a tweet about this issue.

Who cares, that site has been trash since Elon took over.
It isn't. They do it for two reasons.
  • Revenge against the people who closed accounts.
  • To try and get money
Starting today, we're testing a new program (Not A Bot) in New Zealand and the Philippines. New, unverified accounts will be required to sign up for a $1 annual subscription to be able to post & interact with other posts. Within this test, existing users are not affected.

This new test was developed to bolster our already successful efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform and bot activity, while balancing platform accessibility with the small fee amount. It is not a profit driver.

And so far, subscription options have proven to be the main solution that works at scale.
Their excuses there are bullshit, of course.

Minutus cantorum, minutus balorum,
Minutus carborata descendum pantorum.
I can still check out peoples twitter account despite not having an account.
Locking read-only access behind having an account makes me abandon a site. It doesn't make me motivated to engage further.
I'm not a fan of this, personally.
Yeah I forgot my password so I just don't even bother clicking on Twitter links anymore. Before Elon I actually used to enjoy the site and reading funny replies and ratios, but now it's just blue check spam. The blue check people just aren't very clever and you don't see anything but them. If you're going to do a cheap upvote promoting system at least make it work right.

Elon broke my addiction to Twitter. Thanks, Elon! Thanks, Dunning Kruger.
