What's the most money y'all have ever pledged on a crowdfunding campaign

I think I put down like $150 on a bunch of plastic miniatures from reaper bones? Turns out they were kinda shit and not worth it and I didn't care about them after I finally got them. This was years ago though.

May have also donated to Kony 2012 or whatever idk if that counts. That whole period is a blur.

Probably less than $100, I don't remember for sure and I can't be bothered to log in to Kickstarter to check. My wife did a lot of the Reaper Kickstarters, results were mixed.

Yeah truth is most kickstarter products don't exist for a good reason or could have been made without kickstarter, I'm a kickstarter doomer

Like, why can't you start a small scale operation and scale with demand? Why the initial investment? Does your free time cost money? Why can't you take out a loan? Why are you just accepting money from strangers with no strings attached? Why can't you sustain yourself with patreon if there's so much public interest? Would that require, maybe, proving yourself over time, something you're incapable of?

Too many kickstarters literally just claim to triumphantly defeat thermodynamics, 90% of people aren't going to understand why a "self filling water bottle" could never work because you need to have experience in physics to do that
