Also it's kind of upsetting that the only new isekai/fantasy that stands out as good this season is the psycho femboy mage prince anime. It goes so hard for no reason. MC would make a great villain. I have to imagine the production is hard carrying and the source material is mediocre.

I should go ahead and check out Amazing Digital Circus.

Seven episodes into the new Bartender; still a really good series but I guess the underwhelming directing and atmosphere are not going to get any better at this point. I think a kid fresh out of drama class in high school could have done a better job directing, because then it's bound to at least have some stylistic choices.

Also got back into watching Hajime no Ippo; this series is like distilled essence of true manliness. I already knew I'd like it because it's frequently compared to Kenichi which I also love. It just focuses less on nakama and drops the good vs bad aspect and goes all in on character focus.

Ippo's great although I feel sort of conflicted cause the earlier episodes are pretty weak on the animation side. Not only is it old but theres a lot of reused frames and stuff like that but the storyline and character development and direction are great. The later episodes look much better but everything else kinda falls off IMO. Once things become more about saki than real fighting stuff it really goes downhill. I think the writer just ran out of room for the characters to grow and had to invent a new way for them to get better even though it meant dropping the excellent realism aspect.

Making my way through last seasons anime and I started My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!
I'm two episodes in and this might hands down be the worst isekai I've ever seen, I'm likely going to drop it after episode 3

Can't be worse than Isekai Cheat Magician! Instant Death at least has the fact that it's always being ironic and meta to redeem itself, Isekai Cheat Magician is playing isekai completely straight and is fucking horrible at it

(I haven't actually watched the anime and I've seen screenshots that show the anime is a pretty shitty quality, though)

Instant death isekai isn't good but I don't think it's the worst. It manages to be funny sometimes and I enjoy that characters that haven't completed their character arc drop just like the rest.

I been watching some donghua lately. I had watched grandmaster of demonic cultivation which was an impressively high show. No real weak points, in production and the story was coherent and pretty good.

Now I'm watching soul land. It's been a long time since I've watched something with over 100 episodes and I don't really binge much lately since I'm caught up to current season on anime all the time. It's a pretty fun show even if it looks like a really well choreographed PS2 cutscene. They use that well though to give really fluid fights and pretty solid facial expressions. In some ways it reminds me of naruto where the fights were more interesting early on when the power level was lower. Eventually things devolve into screencovering super attacks.

It's refreshing when I watch an old show or rarely, a newer show and it goes "op, show, ed, and then maybe a pv". The newer way with some show, op, show, ed, show, and then pv has annoyed me since I first encountered it.

Started watching Kusuriya no Hitorigoto. Hope it keeps the same sequence. First ep hooked me, so I'm hoping the high rating is warranted.

Wow, the battle to capture jialing pass in soul land might be the actual worst battle to ever be written. All the characters actions are beyond stupid. I couldn't have written it to be more frustrating to watch if I'd tried. I've watched about 230 episodes of this in like a week and a half and I almost feel like dropping it after that. The author should be genuinely ashamed.

So, I watched Bucchigiri! and I think the MC is genuinely one of the worst I've seen in a long, long time.
The only reason I finished it was because the designs were cool and some of the fights weren't bad either but I can't say that I enjoyed it much thanks to said MC.

Then I watched Brave Bang Bravern! and omg, it was the dumbest yet most entertaining mech series I've seen in ages, I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Just started up Tales of Wedding Rings and two episodes in, I can tell this is going to be mid-level trash but I'll stick with it for now

Yes. Validation. Wasn't long ago I was complaining about him on here. That it would be hard to intentionally make a worse protagonist. He has no redeeming qualities at all. Horrible person, not funny or charming, weak except when gifted free win super powers, is a huge creep. I can't fathom how a character so bad could be brought to an animation studio and they greenlit making a show with this piece of human garbage as the MC.

So Tales of wedding rings was as mid as I was expecting. I have almost finished Shangri-La Frontier and I have to say it's a lot better than I was expecting, like a whole lot better, I think that I'll defo be watching S2 of it when it hits.

Yeah shangri-la frontier was great. Wish I could play that game in real life. It's nice to see a decent production in a VRMMO anime that doesn't make it a death game or some abstract .hack knock off with hidden AI in the files controlling everything.

Patch 1.3 is out for Granblue Relink and holy moly they added some absolutely bullshit fights. The harder version of Lucilius is even more punishing with single mistakes causing unavoidable partywide wipes, and the other fights they added are you fighting like five bosses at a time, in waves

Sandalphon's cool though, and sigil combining (you can combine any two sigils with two skills and it'll randomly combine them- and you can get two orange sigil effects on one sigil) is an absolute game changer. Plus War Elemental+ and Warpath+ exists now! And there's two more sigils that do supplementary damage based on your HP or ATK stats

I don't dislike it per se, but I just got kinda disinterested during the Gigantomachia and Detnerat arcs. The Vigilante arc was good, and the stuff leading up to the final climax, but the final battle felt kind of underwhelming and needlessly stretched out.

I know MHA as a giant pile of (... mostly lewd) fanart. I don't really pay much mind to big shounen series any more, aside from revisiting Bleach and Fairy Tail (and Gintama , but that show is special).

Meanwhile, the VAllure debut has been pretty successful; I think I spend more time listening to them than I do watching anime.

Anime season wrapping up about 10 days earlier than normal for whatever reason. Just finished some shows.

Re:Monster was kinda cool, then shit, then kinda ok. Given that the source is from 2011, before modern isekai tropes, maybe I should cut it some more slack, but it's like a lazier, hornier slime isekai. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Rance was one of the inspirations even if our main guy isn't quite as evil as Rance. Dude fucks all the female characters.

Femboy mage (aka, 7th prince) was the standout surprise of the season. On paper this anime should be very dull but the studio cooked with the animation and the premise was well executed and it's just a really fun show. Definitely some of the coolest magic animation out there. Season 2 was announced and I'm quite happy about it. If you watch one trash fantasy/isekai this season, it should be this one.

Overall the season been a bit disappointing outside of sequels.
