internet went down completely today, called the support line. they need to send me a new router which will take 2-3 days. I told them that this is putting me in a bad spot because i work from home. they offered me an $11 credit lmfao

switching to Verizon and the new Verizon router will be here tomorrow, my bill will be half as much through them for Internet speeds 8 times as fast

Switched from Spectrum to Verizon about a year ago. Only thing I will say is that I sometimes have issues where the wifi is a bit wonky, but a router reset fixes that very quickly.

Other than that, can't recommend them highly enough. Half the price I was paying for Spectrum and 10X the speed.

FiOs isn't available in my area, but I probably wouldn't get it unless it was a really good deal. Outside of streaming 4K videos I don't really need the extra speed.

att discontinued service for regular 4G a year ago thus rendering my 2~ year old $300 huawei phone nothing more than a small tablet (individual models had to be certified for LTE apparently and huawei largely didn't bother, probably because of Trump's huawei bans)

they claimed they would give out free phones of similar prices to existing customers, but what they sent me was an Fusion Z- a $20 phone

it's already on the brink of death and my other phone that i've been using on my wifi is still going fine

ping =/= speed/bandwidth. ping's the better metric for actually playing online games. a lot of games use less bandwidth than dialup, but you still need modern ping

you can check everything here, but ping generally probably isn't gonna be a huge issue for you unless you play stuff very sensitive to it (mainly fighting games and FPSes). for regular browsing and downloading there's no doubt your new internet's absolutely better

you're always gonna be subject to more jitter because of the nature of the transmission method (terrible specifically for fighting games), but if you can reliably get sub 30 ping, that's a real good deal for a wireless service

seriously! This is $45 a month vs what i was paying AT&T at $90 a month. it came with a free wifi extender that wont be here for another week so the modem is not in an ideal location for a wired connection at the moment. Will likely switch to that once it gets here though

technically, theyll charge me the $200 for the gift card if i cancel before 180 days but im saving $45 a month for better internet currently.

i get that 5G internet really depends on where you live so your MMV but i have 3 towers surrounding where i live and it works very well
