r/Futurology is just awful, during the AI fad like 8 months ago they were unironically saying that AI will mean human-made art will be illegal. And they were saying this like it was a GOOD thing. Those people are out of their damn minds.

Also pretty much any gaming sub is just filled with basement-dwelling, hate-filled NPCs without a single ounce of self awareness in their bodies throwing tantrums over pronouns or that the female characters aren't scantily clad, while saying everyone else is the problem.

Wow, STP's are exceedingly rare these days, especially on a slower board.

Anyway, I only use reddit for special interest subreddits, and I mostly just lurk. Too often the communities are toxic, the rules/mods are ridiculous, or both.

I was annihilated for saying "AI art is not real art in the same way a beautiful waterfall is not real art, because no one made it" and run over with people saying waterfalls are art.

Which really makes me appreciate how civil and positive the Factorio sub is. Everyone's just happy to be growing the factory, and the occasional person who's rude is immediately overwhelmed by a bunch of other people being much more constructive.

Tons of subreddits are awesome. The secret is to just not go to the shit ones. Or the broadly public ones.

It's like how on GameFAQs there was always a difference between posting on a board like PotD versus a board like CE or Politics.

People in comments actually think there's a conspiracy to make their games run slower because a sandwich model would (hypothetically) deform improperly (even though it wasn't designed to deform and never will), saying they should have used a program to generate the polygons automatically (they obviously did hence the unintuitive topology, meaning this is completely optimized to have as little polygons as possible)

Twitter Blue posters are actually just very low IQ people, Reddit is underrated and they at the very least usually get it right
