People keep spreading this idea that
Pikmin 4 is a sequel to the bad ending in Pikmin 1, where Olimar dies and gets turned into a Pikmin.
And maybe that's what it is, but that kinda doesn't really make perfect sense at the same time.
Like he didn't have his dog with him in Pikmin 1, and that's most likely who the dog with him in the trailer is, it's his family dog Bulbie. And we know from Pikmin 2 that Pikmin can be parasitic. So most likely what happened is Olimar went back to PNF 404 with Bulbie to hunt for treasure, and they were attacked by a parasitic Pikmin they had never seen before.
