Yeah- it is. They are fighting over worthless sand that can be found in abundance in that region.

The only reason x marks the spot to either of them is because of their own respective interpretations of what amounts to the same fairy tale.

if one side came up with an actual real estate value development based argument then that would have merit and either they should agree upon a buy out price or pay a buy out price to the other.

but like most things fairy tale related their reactions make no sense and follow no logic.

No idea, they've been fighting since before my birth and I've never had an opportunity to learn about it whether at school or through the news etc

All I know is Israel has slowly expanded over the course of several wars and the US has their back

I watched some footage of the Iron Dome in action, that was awesome

we now have greater influence in the region then when that began.

The attack on Al Aqsa mosque by Israeli forces was completely forgotten, (they fired indiscriminately on worshippers unconnected to the protests outside) or the far right wing politician who led a group of Israelis to stone the Palestinians while they were eating their evening Ramadan meal, (BBC aired it live but completely forgot about it the next day) or the six hospitals (and counting) that were razed, or the 44 plus children killed by American made weaponry, (probably more now as that was from two days ago) or the destruction of a building containing the offices and residences of journalists covering the attacks.

I say we use some wisdom of Solomon and cut the baby in half... or in this case, since the baby is already cut in half, we glue it together and force them to be good parents.

Or, in other words... we declare Jerusalem an autonamous country kinda like Vatican City with joint Israeli-Palestinian security

Basically all the surrounding Arab States decided to stop killing each other long enough to unite together to restore the nation of Palestine, (spoiler alert: they lost to Israel each time) though fewer nations joined in with each subsequent war; the last one in 2006 was with Lebanon.

Al Jazeera has an ongoing series on the various wars that is very informative.
