At any rate, I'm not sure you understand how this works, but usually when you throw a young creature who can't swim into a large body of water far from shore, they tend to drown. Keep in mind the number of kids who drown after falling into pools each year.
Some cats can swim. Claiming this cat died as Ducky has seems both pessimistic and sensationalist. They can and should still be charged with animal abuse even if we find out the cat lived.
