Poll of the Day » Political typology

Hi everyone ^.^

I've seen a couple of recent topics/polls here about similar matters (such as "Are you right-wing or left-wing?") -- I figured I'd post one that I had found, which goes into more detail, and which I feel is more interesting ^.^

.

I'm afraid it's quite USA-centric, sorry -- some or most of the questions might not feel relevant to people elsewhere.

.

Pew Research very recently released a new edition of their "political typology" series:

cuteness ^.^
That was a terrible quiz with horrible options.
I am awesome and so are you.

The way they presented most of the questions and answers were biased and weird too.

Calling people "needy" among other things.
The side of the fence that we climb determines who's afraid
The questions over generalize and insist on placing you as either Democrat, Republican, or choosing between the 2.

I'm a libertarian, I think big government is bad regardless of who's in charge. Both Democrats and Republicans favor big government, Democrats just favor an even bigger government.
The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. They're all complacent sheeple. Passion fights, but reason wins.
The quiz puts me down as "market skeptic Republican" but most tests put me down as a Left Libertarian.

And yeah, I have to agree that the questions were phrased oddly as if they were trying too hard to wedge a response one way or the other.

Every political alignment test I've ever taken seems to have some sort of inherent lean towards one camp or another though so I always take them with a grain of salt.

Was kinda conflicted on #13 due to the wording. Then #17 basically undermines the whole quiz. In general, it's a terrible quiz which focuses almost solely on a handful of Occupy-type social issues.

At any rate, one run-through gave me Opportunity Democrat and another run-through gave me New Era Enterpriser. I don't identify much with either description, although apparently both results put me at the center of the chart.

The shitty quizmaker probably doesn't believe that libertarians exist.

Oppurtunity Democrat according to their questions

Democratic-leaning and financially comfortable, Opportunity Democrats have liberal attitudes on most issues including the environment, immigration and homosexuality. They stand out from other Democratic groups in their strong belief that hard work is enough for most people to get ahead and for being somewhat less likely to see structural barriers facing blacks and women. They are supportive of U.S. engagement abroad and involvement in global markets
