Those of you who wear glasses, how often do you replace them?

I also hate going to the eye doctor. Last time they had this machine where you look into this thing and they shoot a sudden burst of air at your eyeball to check for glaucoma or something. And the person administering it seemed to get mad at me for jumping every time. It's a reflex. :/
