When you think about it Darth Vader wasn't actually much of a character until the prequels, at which point he became a joke as Anakin was a whiny moron.
His design is super iconic through.
The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. They're all complacent sheeple. Passion fights, but reason wins.
